About Anandpur Sahib

The Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency consists of  Garhshankar, Banga, Nawan Shahr, Balachaur, Anandpur Sahib, Rupnagar, Chamkaur Sahib, Kharar, S.A.S Nagar assembly segments. Under this constituency the Banga and Chamkaur Sahib assembly seats fall under the scheduled caste category. 

The constituency went to polls on May 19 in the seventh phase of 2019 general elections. The poll results will be released on May 23.

SAD's Prem Singh Chandumajra is the sitting MP from this constituency. In 2014 he defeated Ambika Soni, the Congress nominated candidate in this seat by a margin of 23697. He is a a three-time Member of Parliament. He is also a member of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, and the Committee on Public Accords. 

This time the lok sabha elections will have Sodhi Vikram Singh, who was the BSP nominated candidate from this constituency along with AAP's Narinder Singh Shergill, SAD's Professor Prem Singh Chandumajra, INC's Manish Tewari and Raghunath Singh of the CPI(M). They are among the 26 candidates who are in fray for the seat, of which are 10 independent candidates.

The General Elections of 2014 saw a total voter turnout of 1,564,721.
