Congress, which had 41.05% of the total votes in the last election, is fielding CH Vijayashankar.

About Mysore

One of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, Mysore, went to polls in the second phase of the 2019 general election. Mysore is among the 14 constituencies in the state to have voted in the second phase of 17th Lok Sabha election. The other 14 constituencies from Karnataka voted on April 23. The Mysore constituency consists of Madikeri, Virajpet, Piriyapatna, Hunsur, Chamundeshwari, Krishnaraja, Chamaraja and Narasimharaja assembly segments.

A total of 18,57,713 voters are registered in this constituency as per the election commission records. Among them are 9,29,889 female voters, 9,27,676 male voters and 148 third gender voters.

The BJP is again fielding the current member of parliament Pratap Simha for the Mysore seat. 42-year-old Mr Simha holds a Masters degree in Communication and Journalism from Mangalore University. Since September 2018 he is a Member of the Standing Committee on Finance. He is the youngest recipient of prestigious "Rajyotsava" Award for excellence in Journalism from the Government of Karnataka.

Congress party, which had 41.05% of the total votes in the last election, is fielding CH Vijayashankar as its candidate this time. B Chandregowda has been nominated by the Bahujan Samaj Party.

Among the 22 contenders are 15 independent candidates. 4 candidates are contesting for the Mysore seat with regional party tickets.
