The Bangalore Central constituency in Karnataka went to polls on April 18 in the second phase of 2019 Lok Sabha election along with 94 other constituencies from Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Puducherry.

About Bangalore Central

The Bangalore Central constituency consists of Sarvagnanagar, CV Raman Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Rajaji Nagar, Chamrajpet and Mahadevapura Vidhan Sabha seats. The CV Raman Nagar and Mahadevapura seats are reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category only. A total of 21,49,847 voters are registered in this constituency as per the election commission records among which 4,97,424 voters are in the age group of 18-19 years.

The Bangalore Central constituency went to polls on April 18 in the second phase of 2019 Lok Sabha election along with 94 other constituencies of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Puducherry.

After the delimitation of parliamentary and assembly constituencies, the Bangalore Central constituency went to polls for the first time in 2009. This constituency is dominated by minority voters.

Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP won this seat in 2009 and 2014.

For the Bangalore Central seat, sitting MP PC Mohan is among 22 contenders prominent among which are Congress's Rizwan Arshad and Bahujan Samaj Party's Dr MK Pasha. Prior to this, Mr Mohan was a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly for two terms.

Rizwan Arshad had the second largest vote count in the 2014 general election and had received 39.05% of the total votes in the constituency.

The voter turnout in the constituency was 45.34% in this election. It was 55.64% in the last election. 61.84% polling was recorded in the state in the second phase.
