Surendranagar Lok Sabha constituency, one of 26 Lok Sabha segments in Gujarat, went to polls in the third phase of general elections 2019, on April 23.  

About Surendranagar

A total of 18,47,878 voters were registered to cast their vote in Gujarat's Surendranagar Lok Sabha constituency on April 23. Among them 9,69,752 are male voters, 8,78,093 female voters and 33 third gender voters. The constituency along with 25 other constituencies in Gujarat went to polls in the third phase of the 2019 general election.

Surendranagar constituency has Viramgam, Dhandhuka, Dasada, Limbdi, Wadhwan, Chotila and Dhrangadhra assembly segments.

Since 1991, Congress and BJP have been succeeding each other in this seat. The incumbent MP Devajibhai Govindbhai Fatepara, a BJP candidate, won the seat with 5,29,003 votes. 4-time MP from Surendranagar Congress candidate Somabhai Gandalal Koli Patel had come second in the overall vote count.

Somabhai Gandalal Koli Patel had won the Surendranagar seat four times - thrice as a BJP candidate and once, in 2009, on a Congress ticket.

While Congress has nominated Somabhai Gandalal Koli Patel this time as well, ruling party BJP is fielding Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai as its MP candidate from this seat.

31 candidates are contesting the Surendranagar seat, 25 of whom are independent candidates.

Vyavastha Parivartan Party, Hindusthan Nirman Dal and Nationalist Congress Party are among the regional parties contesting for the Surendranagar seat.

Bahujan Samaj party has given ticket to Advocate Shailesh N. Solanki.
