The Porbandar Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on April 23, in the third phase of the 2019 general election. One of the 26 constituencies in Gujarat, Porbandar, consists of Gondal, Jetpur, Dhoraji, Porbandar, Kutiyana, Manavadar and Keshod assembly seats.

About Porbandar

The Porbandar Lok Sabha constituency went to polls on April 23, in the third phase of the 2019 general election. One of the 26 parliamentary constituencies in Gujarat, Porbandar, consists of Gondal, Jetpur, Dhoraji, Porbandar, Kutiyana, Manavadar and Keshod assembly segments. A total of 16,60,932 electorates are registered in this constituency as per election commission records.

Porbandar, considered a BJP stronghold, has seen Congress's victory in 1984 and 2009.

Vitthalbhai Hansrajbhai Radadiya, the sitting member of parliament from the constituency, is currently in his third term. He had contested the 2009 election being a Congress candidate and fought the next two general election on a BJP ticket.

In 2014, National Congress Party or NCP lost the seat by a margin of 2,67,971 votes. The marginal vote count was more than the total votes garnered by the NCP. Winning party, BJP, got 5,08,437 votes. The voter turnout in the last election was 52.62 per cent. 16,443 votes were given under the NOTA option.

For the 2019 general election, BJP is fielding Rameshbhai Lavjibhai Dhaduk for the Porbandar seat. Congress has fielded Lalit Vasoya, while Bahujan Samaj Party has nominated Samatbhai Govabhai Kadavala. Among the regional parties are Gujarat Janta Panchayat Party and Bahujan Maha Party. 12 independent candidates are also contesting for the Porbandar seat.
