About Bhavnagar

One of the 26 Lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat, Bhavnagar, went to polls on April 23, in the third phase of the 2019 general election. Bhavnagar consists of seven assembly segments - Talaja, Palitana, Bhavnagar Rural, Bhavnagar East, Bhavnagar West, Gadhada and Botad.

Gujarat is among the few states which is voting in a single phase. The poll results will be declared on May 23. The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections ended on May 19.

There are 17,67,040 registered voters in Bhavnagar constituency for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

BJP had won the Bhavnagar seat in 2014 by a margin which was greater than the votes received by the party which came second.

Dr. Bharatiben Dhirubhai Shyal, the current MP and BJP candidate, will contest this time again. She holds a graduate degree in Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery from Gulabkuwarba Ayurved College, Gujarat Ayurved University. She has been fielded by the ruling party against Congress's Manharbhai Nagjibhai Patel (Vasani).

Among 10 contenders in the 2019 polls, 4 are independent candidates.

Vyavastha Parivartan Party, Jan Sangharsh Virat Party and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Party are the regional parties contesting for the Bhavnagar seat.
