About Amreli

The Amreli Lok Sabha constituency consists of Dhari, Amreli, Lathi, Savarkundla, Rajula, Mahuva and Gariadhar assembly segments. Amreli is among the 26 Lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat which went to polls in the third phase of 2019 general election on April 23.

In 2019, there are 16,27,980 registered voters in this constituency.

In the 2014 general election, the voter turnout in this constituency was 54.47 per cent. 19,143 votes were exercised under the NOTA option.

Since 1991, Amreli has been a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP. The party has been winning the Amreli seat since then, except in 2004, when Congress's Virjibhai Thummar succeeded 4-time MP Dileep Sanghani.

Till 1984, Congress had in Amreli constituency. Janata Dal overthrew the Congress in 1989 and lost the seat to BJP in 1991. The party got 13,803 votes in the last Lok Sabha poll.

This time, BJP is fielding two-time MP Naranbhai Bhikhabhai Kachhadiya as its candidate from the Amreli seat. He had won the seat, for the second time in a row, defeating Congress's Virjibhai Thummar by a margin of 1,56,232 votes in 2014.

This time Congress has nominated Paresh Dhanani as its MP candidate from Amreli seat. 12 candidates are contesting for the Amreli seat; 8 among them are independent candidates.

Bahujan Samaj Party has given ticket to Ravjibhai Mulabhai Chauhan to contest from the Amreli constituency. Among regional parties Vyavastha Parivartan Party is contesting for this seat.
