In the 2014 general election, Ranjeet Ranjan was elected on a Congress ticket from Supaul in Bihar. She received 3,32,927 votes. Her closest opponent was Dileshwar Kamait who contested on a ticket from Janata Dal (United) and received 2,73,255 votes.
In the 2014 elections, Kameshwar Choupal was BJP’s candidate from Supaul constituency. The voter turnout in Supaul in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was 63.62 per cent, better than that in 2009.
Supaul seat was created in 2008 after delimitation and the first Lok Sabha election was held in 2009 for the Supaul constituency. In the 2009 general elections, Vishwa Mohan Kumar from JD(U) was elected to parliament. He received 3,13,677 votes. His closest opponent was Ranjeet Ranjan who contested on a ticket from Congress and received 1,47,602 votes. The voter turnout in Supual in 2009 elections was 54.52 per cent.
For the 2019 general election, BSP has fielded Kiran Devi, while DIleshwar Kamait is the JD(U) candidate, and Ranjeet Ranjan has been fielded by the Congress.
There are six assembly segments under the Supaul parliamentary constituency. These include Nirmali, Pipra, Supaul, Triveniganj, Chhatapur, and Singheshwar.
According to the Election Commission, there are 12,79,549 registered voters in the Supaul Lok Sabha constituency, out of which 6,72,904 are males and 6,06,645 are females.
