About Saran

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rajiv Pratap Rudy was elected from Saran in Bihar on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 3,55,120 votes. His closest opponent was Rabri Devi from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) who received 3,14,172 votes. Rajiv Pratap Rudy won the constituency by a margin of 40,948 votes.

In 2009 general elections Saran seat was won by Lalu Prasad Yadav of RJD. Saran constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002. Before delimitation, it was Chapra Lok Sabha constituency.

Saran parliamentary constituency consists of six Vidhan Sabha seats these are Marhaura, Chapra, Garkha, Amnour, Parsa and Sonpur.

In the 2019 general elections National Democratic Alliance has fielded BJP's Rajiv Pratap Rudy and his rivals are Chandrika Rai of RJD, Shivji Ram of BSP and Ishtayak Ahmed of Yuva Krantikari Party.
