- Volkswagen Taigun Facelift production has started at the Pune plant ahead of the April 9 launch

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Limited has initiated the production of the Volkswagen Taigun Facelift at its plant in Pune. This marks the next phase of the brand's strategy for the Indian market aimed at improving its presence. The update comes right before the automaker plans on launching the new SUV on April 9. It follows the launch of its badge-engineered twin, the Skoda Kushaq and is expected to bring changes in design, features and mechanics.
New Volkswagen Taigun: Design
The new iteration of the SUV maintains its silhouette while bringing significant changes in its appearance. To begin with, the SUV now comes with a new face. It now gets a new design for the headlight inspired by the larger Tiguan. These units are connected by LED DRLs merging at the centre with the logo. The design of the grille has also been revised. Based on previous sightings, the rear end of the vehicle is expected to get connected tail lamps and blacked-out Taigun lettering, all in sync with the brand's new design language. It also gets a new design for the alloy wheels.

New Volkswagen Taigun: Interior, Features
The interiors of the new Volkswagen Taigun have not been revealed yet. However, the SUV is expected to get a few changes in the layout, along with revisions in the upholstery. If the brand follows the pattern of the Kushaq, the higher variant of the SUV could get a panoramic sunroof and a massage feature for the rear seats. It might also get a rear wiper and washer from the base variant.

The list of features will likely include a fully digital instrument cluster, an infotainment screen supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control. and more. For safety, the SUV will come equipped with six airbags, traction control, ABS with EBD, cruise control, rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, auto IRVM, and more.
New Volkswagen Taigun: Powertrain
The new Taigun is expected to carry forward the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 115 hp of power and is likely to continue with a 6-speed manual, while the 6-speed automatic option could be replaced by a new 8-speed unit. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with 150hp is also expected to carry on with the choice of 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes.
