Royal Enfield enthusiasts might want to sit up straight; the brand's first electric bike, the Flying Flea C6, has been caught out in the open on Chennai streets, stripped of any camouflage. This undisguised test mule sighting feels like a strong hint that production isn't far off, possibly hitting showrooms early next year.

Spotted by sharp-eyed automotive spotter Revant, the bike rolled through public traffic sporting a design very close to the concept Royal Enfield unveiled at EICMA 2024. Carrying the brand's classic cruiser style, the bike carries a round headlamp, girder front forks, and a slim, minimal body that screams retro charm. The exposed aluminum frame and right-side belt drive stand out, while the stripped magnesium battery casing adds a distinctive touch for cooling and lightness.

A new detail, i.e., a center stand caught attention too, something which was missing from earlier prototypes, which makes it more practical for everyday Indian riders dealing with parking hassles and quick maintenance checks. Upright ergonomics suggest it's built for relaxed cruising, perfect for urban rides or short highway runs without the noise of a petrol engine.

Under the skin, expect a mid-mounted electric motor paired with disc brakes (likely dual-channel ABS), and that IP67-rated battery pack with active thermal management for reliability in our hot climate. More details on the specifications of the electric motorcycle are likely to be revealed as it gets closer to launch. A circular digital console should handle Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn nav, calls, music, keyless ignition, and more.

Royal Enfield has been putting the Flying Flea through its paces, from Chennai heat to Ladakh chills, as shown by multiple test mule sightings. No word on price announcement yet, but it'll aim at the affordable cruiser segment to pull in younger buyers eyeing green rides.
