Nissan recently launched the Gravite MPV in India, directly challenging the established Renault Triber in the sub-4m 7-seater segment. Both vehicles target budget-conscious families seeking practical people-movers. Having a shared platform, both vehicles have multiple similarities. However, wearing different badges, the cars have certain differences that set them apart. Here we take a look at the similarities and differences between the models.
Nissan Gravite vs Renault Triber: Similarities
Powertrain: Both the Gravite and Triber are based on the same platform and use the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 71 bhp at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm torque between 3400-3600 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or AMT automatic.

Mileage: ARAI mileage is comparable at around 19.6 kmpl for Gravite and 17-20 kmpl for Triber; both feature front-wheel drive and MUV body style.
Features: Common features include an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, rear AC vents, push-button start, cruise control, and a safety kit with elements like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, rear camera, and parking sensors.

Flexible Seating: Both the seven-seater MPVs offer flexible seating options. The cars get numerous seating combinations made possible by removing or folding different seats.
Nissan Gravite vs Renault Triber: Differences
Pricing: The recently launched Nissan Gravite starts lower at Rs 5.65 lakh (ex-showroom), undercutting Triber's Rs 5.76 lakh (ex-showroom) base price.
Design: Despite having a similar silhouette, the Gravite carries a different identity with unique design elements. Specifically, the Nissan-badged car gets a bolder front grille, redesigned LED headlamps with DRLs, revised bumpers, alloy wheels, and unique badging/colors for a distinct identity from Triber's styling. Similarly, the rear end of the vehicle is very different compared to the French model.
Interior: The difference in appearance continues on the inside, with a slightly different layout. The Nissan gets AC vents placed above the infotainment screen, while the Triber follows a slightly different layout.
