Kawasaki KLX230 Prices Dropped To Rs 1.99 Lakh; Hero Xpulse 210 Beware

India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd. (IKM) has introduced the updated KLX230 (ABS). Almost eight months post its initial launch in the country, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer has started the local production of the motorcycle in India, leading it to offer a massive price drop of nearly Rs 1.33 lakh, as it is now launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.99 lakh, making it a direct rival to the Hero Xpulse 210. Earlier, the Kawasaki KLX230 was priced at Rs 3.33 lakh, ex-showroom. The motorcycle is now available in two colour options - Lime Green and Battle Grey.

Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Yutaka Yamashita, stated: "Until now, Kawasaki has always been a leader and pioneer in the world of off-road motorcycles, introducing numerous advanced models to the Indian market since 2016, from the KX65 to the KX450 and from the KLX110 to the Pvt. Ltd. (IKM)."

He added, "Now, by introducing the New KLX230 manufactured in India to the Indian market, Kawasaki will bring the fun of off-road motorcycling to and wider range of customers and boost the off-road motorcycle scene in the Indian market. We are confident that the new KLX230 will make your motorcycle life more bountiful and exciting, from city riding to racetrack. Enjoy your new KLX230."

The KLX230 has a slim body and a rugged design capable of tackling tough roads. It carries forward the design language as other bikes of the KLX family with hexagonal headlights surrounded by a plastic cowl. All of this is complemented by a slim fuel tank with a fuel carrying capacity of 7.6 litres and a slim single-piece seat.

Using a high-tensile steel perimeter frame, the Kawasaki KLX230 is suspended on 37 mm telescopic front forks and a new preload-adjustable mono shock at the rear end. Braking is the responsibility of a 265 mm single disc with twin-piston callipers at the front end, while the rear end gets a 220 mm disc with a single piston.

Powering the Kawasaki KLX230 is a 233 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine which is tuned to put out 18.1 hp of power at 8,000 rpm and 18.3 Nm of peak torque while revving at 6,400 rpm. This power is transferred to the wheel using a 6-speed gearbox. All of this power, combined with the relatively light curb weight of 139 kg, contributes to the bike's off-roading capabilities.
