Volkswagen is preparing to refresh its compact SUV lineup in India, with the Taigun facelift now spotted testing on public roads. The move comes shortly after the brand introduced the Tayron R Line globally and follows Skoda's unveiling of the updated Kushaq, signalling that Volkswagen is ready to keep pace in the competitive midsize SUV segment.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Exterior Expected
Spy images show a heavily camouflaged prototype, particularly at the front and rear, hinting that cosmetic changes will be the main focus. The overall body shape remains familiar, but expect redesigned elements such as a sharper grille, sleeker LED headlamps, and a reworked bumper. At the back, new LED tail-lamps with a possible connected light bar and revised bumper styling are likely to give the SUV a fresher look.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Interior And Features Expected
Inside, Volkswagen is expected to retain the current cabin layout but introduce new colour schemes to add variety. Buyers can look forward to premium features such as ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable driver's seat, a panoramic sunroof, and a large digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system will continue to be a 10.1-inch touchscreen with connected tech, while comfort features like cruise control and rear seat enhancements are expected to remain part of the package.

Safety equipment will include six airbags, ABS, EBD, and traction control as standard, though advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera are unlikely to be offered in this update. Volkswagen may also streamline the feature list by making more equipment standard across variants, similar to Skoda's approach with the Kushaq facelift.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Powertrain Expected
Under the hood, the Taigun will continue with the familiar 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 115 PS and 178 Nm. Transmission choices, however, are set to change. While the six-speed manual gearbox will remain, the current six-speed automatic is expected to be replaced by a new eight-speed automatic unit. This upgrade should improve fuel efficiency and deliver smoother performance, making the SUV more appealing to urban buyers.
