Political parties contesting in these polls have already presented their manifestos, with various promises. Among these, the standout promise for car enthusiasts has turned up from Kerala. Yes, the state which is famous for its car culture, where enthusiasts are often seen tuning their vehicles in a tasteful manner. The promise comes from VD Satheesan, Leader of Opposition and UDF Chairman. He says he will legalise car modifications in the state if voted into power.
Car Modification Could Become Legal In Kerala
On Monday, a poster was shared on VD Satheesan's Instagram account. The text on the creative said, "UDF for auto-enthusiasts." It also claimed that the political party plans to legalise vehicle modifications that are not hazardous.

Only Safe And Non-Threatening Modifications Will Be Allowed
To eliminate any misunderstanding about the promise, online media sources sought the politician's detailed opinions regarding the poster. Addressing the media, Satheesan can be seen confirming the information presented on the poster while stressing that only 'safe' and 'non-threatening' modifications will be allowed. The politician later shared the video on his social media with an image of a modified Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

The UDF Chairman's post has generated significant attention online, with over three thousand comments and over 35 thousand likes at the time of writing. Among these, many social media users have commented positively about the initiative. The comments reflect a strong desire among people for a reduction in enforcement measures in Kerala.
The political party claimed that even harmless modifications are considered illegal and are penalised. It is to be noted that Kerala is a state where the auto enthusiast community has a taste for modifying their cars aesthetically and, at times, mechanically. Cosmetic modifications for a car often consist of changes in exterior colours using vinyl or the use of new decals. Whereas the mechanical modification can include anything from suspension lift kits to changing the engine tune. The MVD Kerala has been strict with car modifications in the state. In the past, MVD has detained numerous cars in the state, since they were tuned.
