- Ather Energy plans to launch electric scooters using its new EL platform

Ather Energy is set to expand its electric scooter lineup with the use of its new EL platform. Designed to spawn affordable electric scooters, the first model to be based on this platform will be the production version of the EL01. This concept electric scooter was revealed by the brand at the brand's Community Day 2025 and has already been patented. This is the first time the model has been spied testing.
Based on the pictures, the electric scooter sticks close to the design of the concept model. Although the model is heavily camouflaged, it is easy to spot key design elements like the handlebars and the headlight unit. This is complemented by the presence of a rather wide LED DRL present on the apron of the model. Furthermore, it gets a wide-looking body with chunky panels, all of it together pointing towards a conventional design.

Targeted at families, the electric scooter seems to have a wide single-piece seat. It also seems to have a decent space on the floorboard. Meanwhile, the rear end of the electric scooter is very well covered, but it looks like it has the same design as the concept model. All of it aimed at making it suitable for the daily commuters while not wandering far from a conventional design.

At the time of the unveiling of the EL01 Concept, the brand had revealed that the new electric scooter would take space below the Rizta. Once it enters production, the electric scooter is expected to expand the model's reach among consumers looking for something affordable and electric.

The base models are anticipated to emphasize fundamental features, whereas the higher trims might provide options like a TFT display, connectivity, and extra riding aids through available packages.
Although official specifications have not yet been disclosed, previous information indicates that the new scooters may come with battery choices ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh. Ather might also incorporate LFP battery technology to manage costs while ensuring longevity. The company is also expected to persist with its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which can significantly lower initial ownership expenses.
