The situation in Assam's North Cachar hills has remained tense following a series of killings by the militant outfit DHD-J. The group has been seeking a separate state for the Dimasas - one of the major ethnic communities of Assam. And this unilateral ceasefire is meaningless unless the violent operations are stopped in the area.
