Several Hindu families in Cheema Mandi town in Punjab on Friday withdrew their wards from a Sikh institution, Akal Academy, after the school authorities forced the students to come to school wearing turbans. The school wants all students from Class VI onwards to wear turbans. For the last one week, there has been deadlock over the issue with non-Sikh students refusing to come with turban and school authorities imposing a fine.
