Pradeep Runwal was one of Pune's biggest developers with shopping complexes, malls and townships across major Indian cities. But in October, he was arrested on charges of forgery for a land scam right here in Manjiri village, 20 km from the heart of Pune city. Runwal forged the power of attorney of Manjiri's gullible farmers tillers who possessed genuine title deeds, but whose land had been transferred with fake sale deeds to Runwal's name.
