The Union Health Ministry believes that Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code that criminalises homosexuality is a roadblock in controlling the spread of HIV. Several from the gay community agree that the fear of exposure often stops them from seeking medical attention. Doctors say this is not entirely true. For homosexuals, getting medical help is often a problem because opening up to a doctor means lowering your guard.
