It's this sudden increase in vegetable prices that's giving homemakers like Laxmi Senjit a tough time. She is worried that her pension will now be spent on buying essentials. "It is getting increasingly difficult. You come to the market to buy vegetables, and Rs 200 are spent in no time," she says.
