It is widely viewed that farmers in India rarely get the right price for their produce with middlemen skimming off most of the profits but that is slowly changing. It started as a trickle with big firms’ contracting farmers to source raw materials for their production but now with the entry of the modern retail, analysts believe that contract farming will only grow, as retail chains are opting to buy directly from farmers.
