Travancore Devaswom Board president Prayar Gopalakrishnan's comment that the women will be allowed to enter the Sabarimala temple when there will be a machine to detect if it's the 'right time' for them, has sparked outrage with a social media campaign, #HappyToBleed, making headlines world over. Hundreds of women have come out, questioning the religious taboo and stereotypes around menstruation, saying that they are proud of their bodies. But there are still some like the author Rahul Eashwar who defend the comment made by Mr Gopalakrishnan, saying that we need to uphold our ancient traditions.
