Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor: Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's was the wedding of the year. The four day long celebrations included a sangeet, mehendi, a morning registration and evening exchange of vows in Mumbai and then a daawat-e-walima in Delhi. October 16, after much coyness and misdirection on the part of the bride, did turn out to be the red letter day after all. The registered wedding took place at noon in Saif's Bandra apartment and was attended only by family members.
On the evening of October 16, a grand reception was oprganised at Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel. Kareena wore Saif's grandmother's traditional gharara for the ceremony. Later, she changed into a burgundy colour embellished gharara with maroon duppatta. Saif wore a Banarasi brocade achkan by designer Raghavendra Rathore. Guests included Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Malaika Arora Khan, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra and many, many Kapoors.
A Mughal-themed reception or daawat-e-walima was held in New Delhi on October 18. Rahul Gandhi led a power list of guests.
Saif's children - Sara and Ibrahim - with first wife Amrita Singh, attended all functions.
