Beijing:
'Chinglish' has become a much-discussed language across the world. And it's springing up all over Beijing.
But often the real meaning gets lost in translation and the results can be amusing and misleading. For instance, when the Chinese way of thinking is translated into English, "baby on board" becomes "baby on road".
The Beijing government wants to raise the general standard of English and has decided to eliminate 'Chinglish' for good.
But it may be easier said than done. Three hundred million people are learning English in China, but picking up Chinglish unintentionally.
"It is a big problem in China. I think that every young child or young people always speak 'Chinglish', but they always don't know that they speak 'Chinglish'. Like, me," said Dou Dou, an English language student.
To counter the problem, conversation classes which aim to help young Chinese practice English with native speakers, are being encouraged.
