10 militants killed in northwest Pakistan

Peshawar: Ten Taliban fighters were killed in two separate incidents in the restive tribal belt of northwest Pakistan today, official sources said.

Four militants were killed when security forces repulsed an attack on a security check post in Toda Khura area of Orakzai tribal region.

Two more rebels were arrested after an exchange of fire, the sources said.

In another incident, six militants were killed and four more injured when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a landmine near Ali Sherzai village in Orakzai Agency.

The militants were travelling from Kurram Agency to Orakzai Agency when the vehicle hit the mine.

The explosion destroyed the vehicle.

In a separate development, militant commander Abdul Manan surrendered to police in Orakzai Agency, Frontier Corps spokesman Maj Fazlur Rehman told PTI.
