Women Reservation Bill | Women's Quota Bill Sparks Centre vs Opposition Clash Over Delimitation

A major political debate has erupted in Parliament over the proposed Constitution Amendment bills aimed at implementing 33% reservation for women in legislatures. The government has introduced key reforms, including expanding Lok Sabha seats and conducting fresh delimitation based on the next census to enable women's quota from 2029. While the opposition supports women's reservation, it strongly opposes linking it with delimitation, arguing it could disadvantage southern states that have controlled population growth. The government, however, maintains that delimitation is essential for fair representation and denies any regional bias.
