Women in Workforce Could Lift Global GDP by 20%, Says Masoom Minawala Mehta at Davos

Speaking to NDTV at the World Economic Forum in Davos, global influencer and entrepreneur Masoom Meena Mehta said increasing women’s participation in the workforce must be viewed as an economic opportunity, not just a gender equality issue. Citing global estimates, she said closing gender and digital gaps could add trillions of dollars to global GDP. Representing the World Women in Davos agenda, Mehta highlighted the need for structural reforms, including stronger childcare systems, caregiver-focused policies and better access to long-term capital, to bring more women into the workforce and keep them there. She also stressed India’s soft power and the importance of showcasing women-led success stories on global platforms.
