Manipur's oldest valley-based insurgent group has entered into a peace agreement after six decades of waging a guerilla war against the central and state forces. The centre and the state governments announced the signing of the tripartite peace deal with the United National Liberation Front on Wednesday. Manipur, in the past few months, has seen ethnic clashes and a pact with an insurgent group in the midst of the crisis is being seen as a significant step towards peace.
