Why AAP Wants To Take Over Some Delhi Schools
The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government wants to take over two branches of a private unaided school, which faces complaints of violation of rules. While Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has approved the move, the Delhi High Court has currently stayed the takeover. Action was initiated against the Rohini and the Pitampura branches of Maxfort School following several complaints against it including violation of rules in admission to candidates from economically weaker sections (EWS), false records and misappropriation of funds, among others. Is the AAP government justified in its efforts? Should errant schools be taken over or do such decisions 'hamper autonomy' as some private unaided schools put it?
