"What I have understood is that it is all about control. Someone wants complete control. That sense of control does something to your thinking. Women stop thinking of themselves as someone deserving of a dignified life. You will keep hearing 'I love you'. When you resist, they say they will kill themselves," said Kavita Krishnan, women's rights activist, when asked about the dynamics of an abusive relationship.
