'We Hope For Justice': French Players Angry At Racial Abuse Directed Towards Mbappe

Mabppe Racist Comments: France defender Dayot Upamecano and goalkeeper Robin Risser spoke about the international scandal surrounding their captain Kylian Mbappé, who was racially abused online by a Paraguay senator following Paraguay’s loss to les Bleus at the World Cup. Both players demanded for justice to be done against Celeste Amarilla, 61, a lawyer and senator from Paraguay’s opposition Liberal Radical Party. French prosecutors have in effect opened an investigation into aggravated public insult and incitement to hatred or violence aagainst her. The Paris prosecutor’s office told The Associated Press on Tuesday that it launched the probe after the national unit for combating online hate received a complaint from the French Football Federation. Amarilla posted her racist comments on X after Mbappé converted the winning penalty in France’s victory over Paraguay on Saturday. She mocked the France captain’s origins, upbringing, education and appearance. France advanced to the quarter-finals, where it will face Morocco on Thursday.
