Dr Randeep Guleria, Director, AIIMS said that between the first and the second wave there has been a lot of learning that can help us in preventing subsequent waves, since we now know that COVID appropriate behaviours can protect us against emerging variants and developing mutants. So maintain physical distance, wear masks, wash hands and avoid crowding so that super spreader events can be prevented and the virus is not allowed to spread. According to Dr. Guleria, this virus has human to human transmission and there is no other way it can spread, so people should come forward and get vaccinated - more the number of people who get vaccinated, less will be the chances of transmission, viral replication and mutant developing, and so this is what needs to be done to come out of the pandemic and delay the third wave.
