Vijay Seeks VCK's Support | Congress Backs Vijay's TVK

Actor-turned-politician Vijay, who made a blockbuster debut in politics by breaking the DMK and AIADMK's traditional duopoly, is likely to form a government as early as May 7, sources said. The TVK emerged as the single-largest party with 108 seats in the 234-member assembly, falling short of the majority mark of 118. AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan, responding to a question on his party supporting Vijay's TVK, said the "ball is in Vijay's court". "He has to take a conscious decision whether he wants to complete the five-year term or try to do some exercises of taking many more parties into confidence. The Governor has asked for clarity on the number of MLAs in the TVK camp. Developments are happening," he said. After Congress backs Vijay's TVK, the actor-turned-politician has written to Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief seeking its support to form a government.
