US Strikes Iran’s Critical Oil Island. Why Kharg Island Matters So Much To Iran?
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has released video footage showing U.S. forces carrying out large-scale precision strikes on military targets on Kharg Island in Iran. According to CENTCOM, more than 90 Iranian military sites were hit, including naval mine storage facilities and missile bunkers, while oil infrastructure on the island was deliberately spared. Donald Trump said the operation “totally obliterated” military targets on Kharg Island, which serves as Iran’s primary oil export terminal handling nearly 90 percent of the country’s crude shipments. He described the strike as one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East.
