US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s proposal to reopen commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and resume nuclear talks. Trump told reporters, “I reject their proposal... I reject their deal,” calling the offer unacceptable and saying Iran is “losing so badly.” Tehran’s proposal reportedly included reopening the strategic waterway, resuming nuclear negotiations, a sanctions waiver for Iranian oil sales and a ceasefire, conditional on the US lifting its naval blockade of Iranian ports. Shipping through Hormuz has sharply declined amid the conflict.
