US Iran Tensions | Hegseth Warns Iran Against Pursuing 'Nuclear Capabilities'
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that American forces are prepared to act if Iran continues pursuing nuclear capabilities. Speaking during President Donald Trump’s first Cabinet meeting of the year, Hegseth said the US military would deliver whatever the president expects. Trump also warned Somali pirates of strong retaliation following a recent vessel hijacking, authorising military action if needed. The president additionally criticised Somalia and Democratic lawmaker Ilhan Omar, while the US Justice Department charged a man accused of assaulting Omar during a public event.
