'UPI Is Just The First Step': PM Modi's Big Vision For India's Fintech Future
Addressing the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India's fintech transformation and the impact of UPI, which recently completed 10 years. He said UPI is now live in 11 countries, but called this only the "first step", urging the industry to integrate India's payment system with those of more countries and reduce transaction costs for Indians sending money home.
