At least six workers were killed and three others are trapped after an under-construction bridge collapsed during a late-night storm in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district on Thursday. The bridge, that stretches from Morakandar Parsani in Kurara to Naithi village, was being built over Betwa river. The incident took place late at night, around 2 am, when the work was underway. "We reached the spot immediately after receiving the information around 2 am last night that a slab had collapsed and some people were trapped beneath it," Arvind Kumar Verma, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hamirpur told reporters. "SDRF is here, and rescue operations are underway. We have retrieved and identified five deceased," he added.
