Tension over the proposed demolition of a portion of the Shahi Masjid in Ujjain for road widening led to a face-off between police and members of the Muslim community, with tear gas and lathi charge reported at the spot. Amid the chaos, Ujjain City Qazi Khaleelur Rahman appealed to people to ignore rumours and avoid unnecessary visits to markets, saying the mosque issue had been resolved. Ujjain DM Raushan Kumar also urged people not to believe misinformation, saying community members were themselves relocating the religious shrine.
