US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that he would "replace" his earlier plan to charge a 20 per cent toll on cargo going through the Strait of Hormuz with investment and trade deals that Middle Eastern countries will make with the United States. "Based on highly productive conversations with Middle East leadership, I have decided to replace the 20% United States Reimbursement Fee with Trade and Investment Deals that the various Gulf States will be making into the United States," Trump wrote on Truth Social. He said that the investments will be "massive" and that the deals will be "extraordinarily good" for the Middle Eastern countries and their future.
