Time stands still in Panjim's quaint Fointanhas neighborhood, untouched by media cliches. "When the hippies came here in the 70s, they popularised the idea of a laid back Goa, which is found in the beaches, parties, sex and drugs scene. Goa has been stereotyped by the media, and guide book authors leading to a lot of misconceptions," said Raya Shankhwalker, a resident of Fontainhas Village.
