Top World Bank Economist Praises India's Growth Trajectory

The World Bank has retained India's GDP growth forecast for the 2023-24 financial year at 6.3 percent. It noted that the country continued to show resilience against the backdrop of a challenging global environment. As per World Bank's India Development Update (IDU) released on Tuesday, India was one of fastest-growing major economies in 2022-23 at 7.2 % despite significant global challenges. South Asia Region Chief Economist (SARCE), Franziska Ohnsorge said India is seen as "the Elephant of South Asia".
