The unsung martyrs of Mumbai 26/11
Our policemen are usually at the wrong end of the stick when it comes to citizens' views of them. However, the view has seen a sea change since brace policemen with World War II era guns took on the heavily armed terrorists and died in Mumbai. Many of them came from small villages around the city. The Mumbai police constable is the most striking symbol of the city's schizophrenic nature, seen and often ridiculed by the city's elite, as a parochial figure policing a cosmopolitan city.
