The RSS or the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is now hundred years old. And in these 10 decades there have not been any other grouping in India, that have had such a love and hate relationship with the polity as the RSS has had. Banned 3 times since independence, it has always managed to bounce back. Overtly apolitical, the RSS nevertheless till now has given the country 2 Prime Ministers - Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi whose ideologies were forged by the Sangh. From a single shakha, a century ago, the RSS now has over 83000 of them spread all over the country.
