Pounded by incessant rains that have hit Tamil Nadu, more than a hundred marooned families in Vellore's Gopala Samuthiram village are demanding immediate government assistance and long-term measures to mitigate the recurring flooding problem.
Farmers in the region have been hit hard as well. Life in the region has come to a grinding halt, with schoolchildren and office-goers forced to stay indoors, surrounded by water and bleakness.
