A fresh political confrontation is unfolding in Tamil Nadu after DMK functionaries, including Deputy General Secretary A. Raja and senior party leaders, were booked for allegedly holding a protest in Saidapet without permission. Police have registered a case under Section 189 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to unlawful assembly. The protest was against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's recent remarks in the Assembly. Separately, TVK officials in Tiruvallur have filed a complaint against DMK functionaries, alleging derogatory remarks against TVK leaders during the protest. The row has now intensified with sharp political exchanges. A. Raja has hit out at TVK leaders, while TVK spokesperson S. M. Narayanan has responded, calling on people to judge the remarks for themselves. The DMK has also defended its leaders and questioned the cases registered against them, alleging political targeting. With both sides trading accusations, the latest developments add to the growing political friction between the ruling TVK and the DMK in Tamil Nadu.
