Tamil Nadu Farmers Bury Themselves In Sand, Demand Release Of Cauvery Water
In a dramatic protest in Tiruchirappalli, farmers led by Ayya Kannu buried themselves in the sand of the dry Cauvery riverbed to demand the immediate release of water for irrigation. The protesters accused Karnataka of failing to provide Tamil Nadu's share of Cauvery water, warning that the shortage could severely impact the Kuruvai crop.
