The United States conducted a retaliatory air strike in northwest Syria that killed an al-Qaeda-affiliated leader tied to a deadly Islamic State-linked ambush last month, U.S. Central Command announced. The strike targeted Bilal Hasan al-Jasim, who officials say had direct connections to the ISIS gunman responsible for an attack in Palmyra that killed two U.S. soldiers and an American civilian interpreter.
