States to levy 4-5% VAT on sugar

Amid high inflationary pressure, states have decided to impose four-five per cent value added tax (VAT) on sugar and textiles from the beginning of next fiscal. M Manickam, VC & MD, Sakthi Sugars, says the VAT will be passed on the consumers.
